Fort Sumter to Perryville is signed by the author on an inserted leaf tipped in before the title page, Fredericksburg to Meridian is signed by the author on the half-title page, Red River to Appomattox is a presentation copy, inscribed by the author in the year of publication, "To Vera Lynn Sprague from Shelby Foote Chicago 13 Dec 74." Each volume is near fine in a very good to near fine dust jacket. Jacket designs by Jeanyee Wong. Complete sets of the first printings of The Civil War signed by Foote are scarce.
