Rare vintage matte-finish portrait photograph of Orville Wright. Inscribed by Wright at the lower left corner in fountain pen, "To Wm. P. MacCracken from his friend Orville Wright." The recipient, William P. MacCracken Jr. (1888–1969), was an American lawyer, aviator, and public official who played a pivotal role in shaping early U.S. aviation policy. As the first Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Aeronautics (1926–1929), he helped implement the Air Commerce Act of 1926, establishing federal standards for pilot licensing, air traffic regulation, and aviation safety.
