Hugh Lancelot Beales (1889–1988) was a British economic historian and lecturer at the London School of Economics, noted for his work on nineteenth-century social and economic history. His scholarship, including works such as The Industrial Revolution 1750–1850 (1928) and The Early English Socialists (1933), examined the social consequences of industrialization and economic change, while his role as a broadcaster and editor for Pelican Books reflected his commitment to making historical knowledge accessible to a wider public audience.
