Tissue guarded frontispiece and introduction by Adrien Marx. Taves & Michaluk V011; Myers 54. Christmas 1911 inscription on recto of frontispiece from uncle to nephew; relating how this book was given to him by the publisher George Ticknor when they met on a trip to Boston as the book was just published. Also signed by Uncle Tom on title page. Translated by George M. Towle. In near fine condition with the gilt spine bright. An exceptional example, most rare in this condition and with noted provenance.
