Stephen E. Ambrose (1936–2002) was a prominent American historian whose work focused on military history, presidential leadership, and the lived experiences of ordinary soldiers. A professor and prolific author, Ambrose gained widespread recognition for his studies of World War II, most notably D-Day: June 6, 1944, Citizen Soldiers, and Band of Brothers, the latter adapted into a celebrated HBO miniseries. Douglas Brinkley (b. 1960) is an American historian, author, and professor whose work spans political, environmental, and cultural history, with a particular focus on presidential leadership and American ideals. Known for his accessible narrative style and extensive use of archival research, Brinkley has written acclaimed biographies of figures such as Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy, as well as studies on topics ranging from conservation to the civil rights movement.
