Churchill, Joseph Stalin, Averell Harriman. Inscribed by Averell Harriman in the margin beneath the image, "To Cheray & Peter with my love, Averell Dec 1965." The recipient, Peter Duchin, was a professional pianist and bandleader, whom Harriman raised. Matted and framed with an autograph note signed by Duchin. In near fine condition. Matted and framed. The entire piece measures 18 inches by 16 inches.
Averell Harriman was a principal negotiator between Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin during World War II. In 1942, Harriman accompanied Churchill to the Moscow Conference to explain to Stalin why the western allies were carrying out operations in North Africa instead of opening the promised second front in France.
