First edition of Billy Rose's memoir, dedicated to his early patron Bernard M. Baruch. Octavo, original half cloth. Illustrated by Salvador Dali. Fine in a near fine dust jacket.
American impresario and theatrical showman Billy Rose was a major force of entertainment both before and during the WWII era. In 1934, he opened The Billy Rose Music Hall at 52nd and Broadway in New York City, featuring the first Benny Goodman Orchestra where he produced Jumbo starring Jimmy Durante. Rose met Salvador Dali while producing events at the 1939 New York World's Fair, where Dali designed a controversial amusement pavilion featuring a selection of unusual sculptures and statues as well as live nearly-nude performers posing as statues. Following the publication of Wine, Women and Words Rose appeared on the cover of Time on June 2, 1947.
