Ellert Webster Forbes was the husband of American-British food writer Marcelle Azra Hincks, known by the nom de plume Countess Morphy and famed for her book on world gastronomy.
An influential figure in the English wine trade, Simon established the Wine and Food Society in 1933 with the objective of bringing connoisseurs together to appreciate food and wine as an essential part of personal contentment and good health.
