First edition, second printing of this autobiography of Marjory Stoneman Douglas, detailing her life as a pioneering environmentalist, journalist, and feminist who championed the protection of the Florida Everglades. Octavo, original publisher's half-cloth, illustrated with black and white photographs. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the verso of the half-title page, "For Will Durham with regards, Marjory Stoneman Douglas." Fine in a very good dust jacket with a couple of small closed tears and soiling. Written with John Rothchild. Jacket illustration and design by Frank Cochrane. Two newspaper articles about Douglas living to 104 years old and receiving the Medal of Freedom laid in.
