First English edition of Joyce's masterpiece, limited to 2,000 copies. Thick quarto, bound in three quarters green morocco over marbled boards with gilt titles to the spine, printed from the original plates in Dijon. One of 2,000 numbered copies printed on handmade paper, this is number 1528. Of the 2,000 copies printed 500 were sent to the United States, of which "a good number of copies sent by ordinary book post to the U.S.A. got through to their various destinations, but some time between October 1922 (when the Egoist edition as published) and December, the U.S.A censorship authorities evidently became suspicious...until finally 400-500 copies were confiscated and burnt". In near fine condition. Errata laid in. Housed in a custom morocco folding box. An exceptional example.
