First American edition. Octavo, original green cloth, frontispiece. with central gilt illustration of jellyfish and "Sea" for "Seas." First American edition, Osgood binding. Exceedingly rare, with the majority of the copies reportedly having perished in the Boston fire. The cloth shows some wear to the spine and cloth extremities, textblock slighted shifted. This first edition has not been restored or rebacked. Housed in a custom quarter morocco clamshell box.
