First edition of Disraeli's dramatic work. Octavo, bound in full morocco, gilt titles and tooling to the spine, double gilt ruling to the front and rear panels, marbled endpapers. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page, "from his friend The Author." In near fine condition. Books signed by Disraeli are scarce.
Disraeli was barely twenty-one when he wrote his first anonymously published book (and first work of fiction), Vivian Grey. His portrayal of the social and political life of the era made him one of the most popular writers of his generation, and earned for him a lasting fame as a man of letters.
