British economist Lionel Robbins was a prominent member of the economics department at the London School of Economics and is perhaps best known for his proposed definition of economics: "Economics is the science which studies human behaviour as a relationship between ends and scarce means which have alternative uses." He additionally made instrumental efforts in shifting Anglo-Saxon economics from its Marshallian direction and is often remembered for his famous quote: "Humans want what they can't have."
