First Edition of H.G. Wells' The Stolen Bacillus and Other Incidents; With A Full Page Letter Signed by Wells
First edition. Octavo, original blue cloth. Laid down is a autograph signed letter by Wells to Lord Esther, agreeing to meet him for a discussion of military matters. The letter reads, "Dear Lord Esther, I don't think I know anything at all of military matters, but since warfare is evidently to be waged in the future by...novel and untried appliances, I suppose an active and well trained imagination is sometimes able to produce suggestions- and my training has I think served to keep my imagination if anything rather too much alive. Of course I shall be only too delighted and flattered to meet you when you return Very Sincerely Yours H.G. Wells Aug. 23, 09." In near fine condition. Housed in a cloth clamshell box.
The Stolen Bacillus and Other Incidents is a collection of fifteen fantasy and science fiction short stories written between 1893 and 1895.
