Eden's seminal work, founding a methodology of obtaining and systematically analyzing facts to the extant that it has served as the basis of sociological investigations ever since; such that even Karl Marx commented in his Das Kapital that "Eden was the only pupil of Adam Smith who achieved anything of any significance during the eighteenth-century" (PMM).
