Octavo, bound in full mottled calf with elaborate gilt tooling to the spine, morocco spine labels lettered in gilt, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, illustrated with 14 engravings including 2 by William Blake, engraved frontispiece and pictorial title page, rebacked. In very good condition. Small bookplate.
English landscape gardener and writer John Scott of Amwell was the first notable Quaker poet, although in modern times he is best remembered for his anti-war poem The Drum.
