First edition of Burroughs' exceptionally suspenseful novel. Octavo, original green cloth, frontispiece and four illustrations by J. Allen St. John. In good condition. Sunning to the spine, top panel, and rear panel with a closed tear to the foot of the spine.
The first in a two-part series, 'The Mucker' follows Billy Byrne, a violent man from the slums of Chicago who, while fleeing a false murder allegation, is shipwrecked in a Far East jungle. In order to survive, he must unleash his aggressive nature. The romance that mingles within the pages of the book is a cornerstone of Burroughs' pulp fiction.
