First edition, one of 250 numbered copies of Bridges' classic account of the rise of the Carnegie Steel Company. Octavo, bound in three quarter crushed levant morocco over silk-covered boards with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, illustrated. In good condition.
Carnegie Steel Company was founded by Scottish-American industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie and several close associates n the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area in the late 19th century. The company was formed in 1892 and was subsequently sold in 1901 in one of the largest business transactions of the early 20th century, to become the major component of U.S. Steel. The sale made Carnegie one of the richest men in history.
