First edition of this brilliant play in two acts. Octavo, original publisher's gray cloth. Association copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Stephen Spender from his friend T. S. Eliot." The recipient, Stephen Spender, was a renowned poet, critic, and friend of T.S. Eliot. In response to a request for a copy of 'The Family Reunion,' in a letter to Spender dated 24 January 1939, Eliot assured Spender, "You shall certainly have a copy of the play as soon as one is available..." The present copy of the play is undoubtedly the copy to which Eliot refers. Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Housed in a custom clamshell box.
