Royal 1958 Christmas and New Year Card Signed by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip
Royal 1958 Christmas and New Year card with a full-color image of Sebastiano Ricci's painting The Holy Family. Signed by Queen Elizabeth, "Elizabeth R" and Prince Philip, "Philip." The card measures 18.25 inches by 7.75 inches. In fine condition. A lovely example.
Elizabeth II has been Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand since 6 February 1952. She ascended the throne at the age of 25, upon the death of her father, King George VI, on 6 February 1952, and was proclaimed queen by her various privy and executive councils shortly afterwards. The coronation took place more than a year later on June 2, 1953 because of the tradition that holding such a festival is inappropriate during the period of mourning that follows the death of a monarch.
