First edition of American zoologist Alpheus Hyatt Verrill's work on the geography, history and infrastructure of Puerto Rico and San Domingo. Octavo, original illustrated cloth, with numerous illustrations, two full-color folding maps. In near fine condition.
American zoologist and explorer Alpheus Hyatt Verrill authored many books on both natural history, travel and science fiction including Cuba Past and Present, An American Robinson Crusoe, The World of Giant Ants, and Harper's Book for Young Naturalists. He served as natural history editor of the 1896 publication of Webster's International Dictionary and invented the autochrome process of natural-color photography.
