Octavo, 2 volumes, bound in the original publisher's deluxe brown half morocco over brown boards, with blind-stamped gilt central motifs of Grant, gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised bands, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers. Illustrated with numerous steel engravings, facsimiles and 43 maps including tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of Grant to each volume. In very good condition, inscription to volume two.
