First edition of this work, written by President Roosevelt while in his first term. Octavo, original cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, “To S.D Green '04 from his classmate Franklin D. Roosevelt.” The recipient S.D. Greene was classmate of Roosevelt's at Harvard University and part of the graduating class of 1904. Roosevelt began his studies at Harvard University in September of 1900 where he devoted much of his efforts to his social life and found notable success at the university newspaper of which he soon became editor-in-chief.
