Bob Kerrey (born 1943) is a decorated Vietnam War Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient who went on to serve as governor of Nebraska (1983–87) and U.S. senator (1989–2001), becoming a prominent Democratic voice on fiscal policy, intelligence, and campaign reform. As fellow Nebraskans, Kerrey and Buffett developed a public friendship, most visibly when Buffett hosted and supported a fundraiser for Kerrey’s 2012 Senate campaign.
