Quartos, 4 volumes, bound in full blue morocco with gilt titles and tooling to the spine, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, with ten original lithographic illustrations in color per volume. In fine condition. Each volume housed in the original marbled slipcase.
French poet Charles Baudelaire's highly original style of prose-poetry influenced an entire generation of poets including Paul Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud and Stéphane Mallarmé, among many others. His most famous work, Les Fleurs du mal (The Flowers of Evil) expresses the changing nature of beauty in modern, and rapidly industrializing Paris during the mid-19th century.
