Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758–1805) was a British naval commander whose strategic brilliance and charismatic leadership secured Britain’s dominance at sea during the Napoleonic Wars. Renowned for his victories at the Battle of the Nile (1798) and the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), Nelson revolutionized naval warfare through bold tactics that emphasized initiative and decisive engagement. His personal courage, often displayed despite severe injuries, and his ability to inspire loyalty among his men made him a symbol of national heroism.
