First edition of Lyndon B. Johnson's My Hope For America; Signed by him
First edition of Johnson's work discussing his philosophy of government, boldly signed by Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson. Octavo, original cloth. Boldly signed by Lyndon Johnson on the front free endpaper. Fine in a near fine price-clipped dust jacket. Jacket photograph by Rowland Scherman.
Johnson was sworn in as President during a period of healthy economic growth, low unemployment, and no serious controversies with major countries. His attention was therefore focused on domestic policy, and, after 1966, on the Vietnam War. Written early in Johnson's presidency, My Hope For America touches on the President's vision for America and his thoughts on the challenges of justice, the threat of communism, and the duty of the Democratic Party.
