"The great rocks of Yosemite, expressing qualities of timeless, yet intimate grandeur, are the most compelling formations of their kind. We should not casually pass them by for they are the very heart of the earth speaking to us" (Ansel Adams). American landscape photographer and environmentalist Ansel Adams known for his black and white photographs of the American West. He and Fred Archer developed a system of image-making called the Zone System, demonstrating the impact that exposure, negative development, and printing have on the tonal range of an image.
