Presentation copy, inscribed by author who has drawn a picture of Madeline, "To Brownie Wise Souvenier de Paris Ludwig Bemelmans 1954." Fine in a near fine dust jacket. Rare and desirable signed and with a drawing.
It took Ludwig Bemelmans years to think of Madeline's next adventure after the 1939 original Madeline, but he did it, and the result was Madeline's Rescue, winner of the 1954 Caldecott Medal.
