Octavo, 2 volumes, original publisher's cloth decorated in gilt, tissue-guarded engraved frontispiece portrait of Sir Randolph Churchill after a photograph by Mackintosh to Volume I, tissue-guarded engraved frontispiece portrait of Sir Randolph Churchill after a photograph by Russell and Sons to Volume II, illustrated. In very good condition, moderate toning throughout. Provenance: from the library of William Arthur, sixth Duke of Portland, armorial bookplates. Loosely inserted is part of the Christie's catalogue for the Duke of Portland's Titchfield Library sale at Welbeck Abbey, March 17, 1954, where it was acquired by Winston Churchill collector Harry Cahn (bookseller note). A nice example with noted provenance.
