Octavo, original publisher's dark green cloth bound by Remnant & Edmonds, yellow endpapers, frontispiece of The Dead Sea, illustrated with lithographic plates from original drawings by the author's husband Lord Francis Egerton. In very good condition, armorial bookplate to the front pastedown.
The daughter of British politician and public official Charles Greville, Harriet Catherine Egerton, was married to Francis Egerton, 1st Earl of Ellesmere on Jun 18th, 1822 at St. George's, Hanover Square. The Egertons had an affinity for travel and the arts, which fueled their visits to the Holy Land, Egypt, and Greece, among other places.
