Welsh historian and travel writer Jan Morris, known best for her 'Pax Britannica' trilogy, has also written a series of historical travel books about different cities of the world. Having spent a vast amount of time visiting Hong Kong since the 1950s, her interest in the region expands past the beautiful geography to the tense history of imperialism and capitalism. "Ms. Morris possesses both a striking ability to make readers see her subjects and an affinity for cities . . . [her] 'Hong Kong' makes the armchair traveler yearn to visit the complex and cosmopolitan city of the future in person" (Barbara Cady, Publisher).
