Second enlarged edition of this collection of speeches. Octavo, original cloth, frontispiece of Coolidge. Presentation copy, boldly inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "To John S. Connally with regards, Calvin Coolidge." Near fine in a good dust jacket with loss to the crown and foot of the spine and tape. Rare in the original dust jacket and signed.
Have Faith In Massachusetts includes documents, among them a telegram to Samuel Gompers, relating to the 1919 Boston police strike, during which Coolidge “upheld the city police commissioner’s decision to deprive the striking officers of their jobs… [and declared], ‘There is no right to strike against the public safety by anybody, anywhere, any time.’ This [event] brought him national attention and overwhelming reelection as governor that fall” (ANB).
