Association copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "For my old pal Toy - from his new friend and fan! Peace & love, Colin May 1975." The recipient was Tay Garnett was one of the great American film directors of Hollywood's Golden Age, best known for the MGM film noir masterpiece, The Postman Always Rings Twice. Higgins, an Australian-American screenwriter and director, best known for his screenplays Harold and Maude and Silver Streak and, as both screenwriter and director for Foul Play, 9 to 5 and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
