The recipient was Margaret Mitchell's aunt, Clara Mitchell McConnell. Laid in to the book is Mitchell's calling card (Mr. John Robert Marsh), as well as an autograph note from Margaret Mitchell, which states: "So sorry to hear of your illness. Hope you're going to be better soon. Margaret and John Marsh." Inscribed first editions of Gone With the Wind are scarce, association copies of this caliber seldom enter the market. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box.
