Silver library edition of this collection of historian James Anthony Froude's lectures delivered at Oxford on 16th century English seamen. Octavo, bound in full contemporary tree calf with gilt titles and tooling to the spine in six compartments within raised gilt bands, black morocco spine label lettered in gilt, gilt turn-ins and inner dentelles, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers. In very good condition.
This collection included Froud's historic lectures The Sea Cradle of the Reformation, John Hawkins and the African Slave Trade, Drake's Voyage Round the World, The Great Expedition to the West Indies, Saling of the Armada, and Attack on Cadiz.
