The recipient, Jerry Garcia was best known for his work as the lead guitarist and as a vocalist with the band the Grateful Dead, which came to prominence during the counterculture era in the 1960s. Fine in a near fine dust jacket with a touch of shelfwear to the extremities. Jacket art by John Schoenherr. An exceptional example.

Dune was awarded the first Nebula award for best science fiction novel, shared the Hugo award, and "became one of the most famous of all science fiction novels" (The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction).
