Childe Harold: With a Note.

Finely bound example of Byron's classic, in an elaborate Venetian binding produced for the Grand Tourist at the start of the 20th century. Octavo, bound in full contemporary vellum, spine and covers hand-painted, front panel featuring a painting of a Venetian bridge within an onlaid gilt metal oval surrounded by a foliate design and further gilt metal onlays, bevelled covers, string ties, top edge gilt. The text used is a rare Venetian imprint with wide margins, with only one copy listed in British institutions.
