First British edition, early printing of the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, continuing the story of young Charlie Bucket and eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka as they travel in the Great Glass Elevator. Octavo, original publisher's pictorial boards, with black and white illustrations. Inscribed by Roald Dahl on the front free endpaper in black felt tip, "With love Roald Dahl." In near fine condition with light toning and minor separation to the lamination along the spine. Illustrated by Faith Jaques. Accompanied by the original transmittal letter from Graham Rote & Company Limited, dated January 30, 1981 which states that the book had been a runner-up prize in the International Stores "Dream Journey of a Lifetime" competition.
