Association copy, inscribed by the author to the family of film director Fred Zinnemann on the front free endpaper, "THIS BOOK IS FOR THE GRANDCHILDREN OF RENEE AND FRED WITH LOVE FROM Roald Dahl 1969." The recipient, Fred Zinnemann was a revered film director and producer who won four Academy Awards for directing and producing films in various genres. His best known works include High Noon, From Here to Eternity, Oklahoma! and The Day of the Jackal. Dahl was a family friend of the Zinnemann family. Near fine in a supplied near fine price-clipped dust jacket, second issue with the five line colophon on the last page. Illustrated by Joseph Schindelman. A very sharp example, most rare and desirable signed and inscribed and with a wonderful association.
