Rare original autograph poem signed and entirely in the hand of Bram Stoker. Quarto, one page on a leaf removed from an album, complete four stanza poem titled "The One Thing Needful," pictorial details to top of manuscript margins, floral ribbon details in margins on verso. Boldly signed and dated beneath fourth stanza, "Bram Stoker 5 October 1900 Greeba Castle, Isle of Man." In near fine condition with toning to edges. The piece measures 9.25 inches by 12.25 inches. Rare.
Bram Stoker was an Irish author best known for his 1897 Gothic novel Dracula, a foundational work in the vampire literary tradition and a key text in Victorian horror fiction. Educated at Trinity College Dublin and long-serving as the business manager for actor Henry Irving, Stoker was deeply embedded in the theatrical and literary circles of his time.
