First edition, first issue (with the first issue dedication "to the wife of my youth.") of Wallace's classic work. Octavo, original decorated cloth. Near fine in the rare dust jacket. We cannot locate a bibliographical description of a first edition dust jacket and it is probable that this jacket is from a later issue or edition. There has only been one example in the original dust jacket at auction in the last 80 years. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box.
