"Of all the Kennedy books . . . this is the best": First Edition of A Thousand Days; Inscribed by Arthur Schlesinger to Frank McCulloch
First edition. Octavo, original black cloth. Fine in a near fine price-clipped dust jacket. Inscribed by the author, "For Frank and Edith with admiration and affection Arthur M. Schelsinger Jr." The recipient was Frank McCulloch, who was chairman of the National Labor Relations Board and is mentioned in this volume. Also laid in is a memorial service bulletin for McCulloch. There is a quote in the bulletin from Schlesinger, which reads, "He brought civility into labor- management relations, and humanity into politics. I wish there were more Frank McCullochs around today." One of the few now classic works regarding the Kennedy White House years. A nice association.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, this is the classic study of the presidency of John F. Kennedy as told by a master historian who had the advantage of personally witnessing the great and tragic events of which he writes. "Of all the Kennedy books . . . this is the best." (Time).
