First Scholar's Facsimiles edition of the first book of wine in the English language, reproduced from the copies in the Library of Congress and British Museum. Small octavo, original cloth. Near fine in a very good dust jacket.
Turner's book on wines has special importance in the history of wines since it was not only the first single work in English on the subject, but, as Andre Simon said, it is particularly precious because it was known to Shakespeare and was of great service to him. In the theatre of Shakespeare we find not only the same names of the wines as in this little treatise by Turner, but the same evaluations of them.
