In the News: Elementary school students learn about Martin Luther King Jr. at Raptis Rare Books

Elementary school students from Acton Academy visited Raptis Rare Books on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to view several historic artifacts associated with the civil rights leader.

Among the items the students saw Monday were a first edition and autographed copy of King’s first book “Stride Toward Freedom; The Montgomery Story”; a first edition and autographed copy of King’s second book “Strength to Love”; a signed letter that King wrote in 1951 requesting housing upon his acceptance to Boston University’s graduate school; an inscribed copy of his book “Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community”; and several other historic Civil Rights Movement pieces, Raptis officials said.

About six students from the Palm Beach Gardens school attended. Raptis is at 329 Worth Ave.
