The Limited Editions Club signed limited edition of the author’s Pulitzer Prize-winning work. Quarto, two volumes, bound in quarter black morocco over linen boards with gilt titles and numbers to the spine, tissue-guarded frontispiece, illustrated with ten photogravures. Boldly signed by the author Robert Penn Warren and illustrator Hank O'Neal on the colophon page at the rear of volume two. One of 600 numbered copies, this is number 129. In fine condition. Introduction by the author. Illustrated by Hank O'Neal. Housed in a custom cloth slipcase.
Set in the 1930s, "All The King's Men" traces the rise and fall of Willie Stark, who resembles the real-life Huey "Kingfish" Long of Louisiana. Stark begins his political career as an idealistic man of the people but soon becomes corrupted by success. Generally considered the finest novel ever written on American politics. Basis for the 1949 film starring Broderick Crawford and the 2006 remake with Sean Penn, Jude Law and Kate Winslet. Named by Modern Library as one the 100 greatest novels of the twentieth century.
