Original color photograph of American baseball legends Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, and Billy Martin, each signed by them in their New York Yankees uniforms posing together in the dugout. In near fine condition. The piece measures 10 inches by 8 inches.
American baseball legend Joe DiMaggio is widely considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time, and is best known for his 56-game hitting streak (May 15 – July 16, 1941), a record that still stands. During his tenure with the Yankees, the club won ten American League pennants and nine World Series championships including the 1951 World Series Championship in which the Yankees defeated the New York Giants in the 1951 World Series Championship in six games; finishing the season with a record of 98 games won to 56 lost and winning their 18th pennant. The year was noted for an unprecedented 'changing of the guard', as it was Joe DiMaggio's final season and Mickey Mantle's first. Mantle would go on to play his entire Major League Baseball career (1951-1968) with the New York Yankees as a center fielder and first baseman. Billy Martin won the World Series both as a player and as a manager with the New York Yankees. As a player, he was a key contributor to five Yankees World Series championships in the 1950s (1951, 1952, 1953, 1956, and 1958), most notably earning MVP honors in the 1953 Series for his clutch hitting. As a manager, he led the Yankees to a World Series title in 1977, guiding a team that featured stars like Reggie Jackson and Thurman Munson, and marking a high point in his tumultuous managerial career.
