First edition of this novel from the author of Goodbye Berlin and what many consider his finest novel. Octavo, original cloth. Association copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title page in the month of publication, "For Peter, at the beginning of what I hope will be a long and happy association, from his friend, Chris, January 28, 1962." The recipient was the author's Simon and Schuster editor Peter Schwed and a close friend of Isherwood's. Near fine in a very good dust jacket with some wear to the crown of the spine.
