Octavo, original blue cloth, pictorial endpapers, with 58 illustrations by Janet and Anne Grahame-Johnstone. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the second free endpaper, "Signed for Janet Berry with all good wishes from Dodie Smith. Sudbury June 1962." Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. Jacket design by Janet and Anne Grahame-Johnstone. Uncommon signed and inscribed.
Originally serialized in Woman's Day as The Great Dog Robbery, Dodie Smith's The Hundred and One Dalmatians details the adventures of two Dalmatians named Pongo and Missis who must rescue their puppies from the fur-obsessed villain Cruella de Vil. The books was adapted into the 1961 animated film One Hundred and One Dalmatians produced by Walt Disney Studios. It became the tenth highest-grossing film of 1961, and one of the studio's most popular films of the decade.
