Rare first edition of this argument on the economic practice of short selling, translated to the German language by Dr. Carl Hundhausen. Octavo, original blue cloth, top stain black, illustrated with economic graphs. In very good condition.
In the aftermath of the 1929 Crash, short selling was often ridiculed as a destabilizing or immoral business practice, marked by price manipulation and insider trading. In opposition to that view, Meeker argued that short sellers stabilized prices by creating demand and providing liquidity. Dr. Carl Hundhausen's translation is his contribution to the questions of stock market reform and the possibilities of hedging in goods and securities in the German sphere.
